Persnickety is a mandala cat, textured and complex with lots of depth. I transfer the image to sterling silver sheet and then etch it into the metal. I then saw the entire piece out; and then carefully “pierce” or saw out small elements of the design. After filing and sanding all the small openings to perfection, I clean and polish. Persnickety is then soldered to a backplate, and small rings are also soldered to his ear tips for his chain. After filing, cleaning and polishing, the piece is patinated to add depth and texture to the piece, making all the persnickety intricacies pop.
